Prayer, Tongues, Prophesying

Prayer walking has been such a blessing with fine, dry, bright weather. The first day that there was a mist in the air, these words came to me:

"The rain is also needed and necessary. And just as the rain is needed to water the earth, so my word that goes forth will not return to me void, but will perform the purpose for which I sent it."

What an encouragement!

When I took this photo I could just see a hint of a rainbow beginning to appear in the centre.

I had been praying in tongues mainly, and just offering my prayers to the Lord to send forth the sound He wanted to speak into the earth at that place at the start of the prayer walking journey. There is something very humbling about letting go of the message of the words you say and just entrusting them into God's hands.

Video transcript:

Hallelujah. I was just saying yesterday - it's diversity of tongues, so the type of tongues has been, I said, Lord, I give you my voice, for you to pray through me. You speak forth your word. So that's what I've been doing lending my voice to the Lord, to the Holy Spirit to speak forth what He wants to say.

And so this lass that was in Germany, an American lass, she said that she felt like the Lord was saying that as I was walking (and I hadn't told her that), she said, as I was walking the Lord was prophesying into the land as I went through. And I said, that's exactly what's happening. It's very deliberate. So I'll continue to do that.

And I just want to add a second thing from what I read yesterday from Watchman Nee that wow, when you speak in tongues, it's the pure word of the Lord. It's the pure Holy Spirit of God speaking His word in a holy mystery that we cannot comprehend with our natural mind, with our human soul, and yet the word of prophecy comes through the human vessel. It comes through the human soul, the mind, will, and emotions of that human being.

And even like the written Word of God, we can tell in the New Testament the slight different tone in the writings of Peter, the writings of Paul, the writings of John. And Watchman Nee's writing a hundred years ago, he said that Paul wrote that prophecy is greater than tongues. He says, you know I speak in tongues. more than you all. He says, I'd rather have you prophesy in a meeting, than speak all these unintelligible words in tongues, and it just shows you how much the human soul is valued by God, that he would rather send forth His Word through that human soul in human language, than just speak forth in tongues.

So we speak forth in tongues first, because we've got to get own spirit man strong. The Bible says, build up yourselves in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. So we strengthen ourselves in the spirit. Even in Ephesians 6 it says how we stand. We stand firm, being strong in the Lord and the power of his might. We stand firm therefore, and it goes on. So being strong in the spirit is the starting place. And we get that privately, personally, praying in tongues. We pray with our spirit, but our understanding doesn't know what we're saying but we trust in faith.

But we don't just stay there. We go from tongues to prophesying. Hallelujah. And this does mean we have to trust and step out in faith, that what we're believing the Lord is revealing to us, is his word, and we have to give it a go. And we start small. Little by little we grow. But this is what the Lord is doing. He's prophesying over this land. As I speak in tongues, he's speaking the pure word of the Lord. And as he gives utterance, I will prophesy as he leads me as well. And even sing and worship, and just even decree and pray as he leads. I'm just following as best I can, the leading of the Holy Spirit at this time. And at the moment I feel led to pray in tongues primarily and have my eyes and ears open in the spirit especially, but also a bit in the natural to see what the Lord would highlight and how he would lead.
